The End of Year Celebration Dinner for our Year 11s was a splendid occasion will satin, sequins and finest evening wear on display on Thursday 25th June.
The evening was an opportunity to celebrate the hard work and diligent efforts of our students as they completed their GCSEs this summer; the pinnacle of their academic achievements so far.
With an array of transport dropping the students off in the sunshine the assembled crowds were pleased to photograph not only the glamorous outfits and groups’ smiles but also the vehicles which included everything from a Lamborghini to a tractor!
The students entered the space along the red carpet and through a balloon arch which included outsize silver starfish and sparkling glitter ball balloons. The Year 11 Tutor Team, led by the inimitable Ellie Smales, and Camilla, a kind, creative and enthusiastic Year 11 parent, did a wonderful job dressing the tables in Oakview Restaurant with scatters of confetti and golden place cards. The meal, provided by Thomas Franks, the school’s caterers, was chosen by popular vote by the Year 11s. The tasty menu consisted of cheeseburgers, triple cooked chips and salad, followed by chocolate tart and cherry icecream!
In addition to the excellent DJ and the busy vintage photobooth, a very popular feature of the evening was the ‘Trip Down Memory Lane’ photo wall that adorned the window and showed the progression of our Year 11 cohort from Newcomers’ Day in Fryer through to Year 11 Shirt Signing. Students also arranged their own award ceremony resulting in moments of pride and waves of hilarity as individual personalities were recognised for their unique contributions to the year group’s experiences of senior school.
“The Year 11s and Pre Sixth enjoyed a very warm but truly spectacular end of year celebration! It was a wonderful opportunity to bring this incredible year group together before they head off on their well deserved summer break, and to celebrate everything they have achieved during their time at Leighton Park, while also looking forward to all they will go on to achieve in the Sixth Form.” commented Ellie, whose immense efforts were appreciated by the students with a card and flowers. "I have had the pleasure of tutoring this year group since they were in Year 7, and what a group they are! Tenacious, energetic and wonderfully well rounded, these brilliant young people are some of the most fantastic individuals I have had the honour of working with. It was an absolute privilege to organise and celebrate this special evening with them. A huge and heartfelt thank you goes to our caretakers, the wonderful Oakview team, the Year 11 tutors and teachers, and Camilla, whose support and hard work made the whole evening possible. I think we all just wished it had been five degrees cooler! "
