One of the UK's best Music Departments
We’re thrilled to be a recognised as one of the UK’s very best schools for music for the second year in a row in the prestigious Outstanding School Music Department Award from the Music & Drama Education Awards 2025. A Leighton Park student gained third place in the national KS4/KS5 Independent School Association Young Musician Competition with our students also holding first (KS5) and second place (KS4) in the national Composing Competition.

Moving Image
Moving Image at Leighton Park School is where fresh, progressive ideas meet a reputation for creative excellence. We hand you the camera from day one, offering an exciting, hands-on environment focused entirely on practical, real-world execution. The Pearson BTEC Level 1/2 in Creative Digital Media gives younger students in Years 10-11 a dynamic foundation behind the lens, encouraging them to actively create rather than just analyse. For Sixth Form students, the Level 3 Extended Certificate in Digital Film & Television Production bypasses traditional exams entirely, allowing you to spend two years building a sophisticated, professional portfolio that opens doors directly to the industry and film schools.
To bring your visions to life, you will train with an impressive range of industry-standard video and audio equipment before mastering professional editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and DaVinci Resolve in our dedicated Mac suite. This high-calibre technical training is elevated by our exclusive partnership with Pinewood Studios, which brings specialised workshops and guest lectures directly to campus. Our students thrive under this elite preparation, frequently entering and winning prestigious national and global competitions.
The creativity extends seamlessly into our vibrant co-curricular programme. The brand-new, entirely student-led House Film Competition allows the whole community to collaborate on original cinema, while our Junior and Senior Film & TV Clubs foster independent filmmaking. For those drawn to live production, the Tech and Stage Crew offers invaluable, hands-on experience running major school events. The Moving Image department provides the ultimate launchpad for the next generation of visionary storytellers ready to shape the future of media.
