Staff Vs Student Netball 2026!

It was time for another highly anticipated Staff versus Students game, this time playing Netball.

There was incredible buzz around this event as there were two teams playing for each side, which saw students from across the year groups gather to watch. And it was an added bonus that the sun was shining!

The first of the matches started at 4:30 and saw four matches played over the next hour. The matches were closely contested throughout, with both staff teams providing strong competition. The overall result was less important than the participation, enjoyment, and community spirit on display:

Blue (staff) Vs Yellow, Yellow Winners

Blue (staff) Vs Purple, Blue Winners

Sophie Rowse, Head of Netball, was enthusiastic to share her excitement: “The event was a huge success and a fantastic afternoon of sport. We had two staff teams who were eager to get on court, which created a great atmosphere throughout. It was particularly rewarding to see so many students getting involved, including several boys who had never played netball before. Most importantly, there were smiles all around, everyone had the opportunity to play, and there was a real sense of community and enjoyment.”

When asked further about the event, Sophie had to say: “Events like this are incredibly important. They give students the opportunity to play alongside and compete against staff in a fun and positive environment, helping to strengthen relationships beyond the classroom. The enthusiasm shown by both students and staff suggests that there is a real appetite for events like this. With such positive engagement, competitive spirit, and enjoyment throughout the afternoon, I would love to see the Staff Vs Student Netball event return and become a regular fixture in the sporting calendar. In fact, the staff enjoyed the event so much that many of them have already been asking for more opportunities to play. As a result, we're hoping to organise a Staff vs Staff match later this year!”

Noa (Lower Sitxh) shared similar thoughts: "I found the event really enjoyable and I liked how it was competitive, but we still had fun. It was well organised and a good opportunity to play netball with others. It was quite challenging playing against the staff, but it was still great and they made the game fun for everyone. Working together as two teams was great and I feel like we supported each other, communicated with each other, and had good teamwork throughout."
