LP Changemaker at Youth World Summit

Ethical Changemaking Scholar, Beatrix (Lower Sixth), is thrilled to be representing the UK at the Youth World Summit 2026 in Paris from 11-14th June. 

The Youth World Summit 2026 brings together emerging leaders, young professionals and policy enthusiasts for a global convention on overcoming common economic, social and environmental challenges. Speakers and facilitators will deliver insights into global policy processes providing cross-cultural engagement opportunities, interactive skill-building and collaborative working for the young delegates. 

In addition to four days of dialogues, workshops, networking and panel discussions, delegates will enjoy a trip to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) which includes a briefing session with Canada’s Permanent Representative, a policy inclusion workshop and a tour of the organisation dedicated to stimulating economic progress and world trade. The following day is focussed on three key sessions; a panel discussion on ‘Policy Dialogue on Youth Leadership in an Era of Global Uncertainty’; an interactive workshop on ‘Gender Equality and Inclusive Leadership’; and finally, a ‘Cultural Showcase’ celebrating diversity, participation and achievement. 

Looking forward to the conference, Bea enthused, “I haven’t been to Paris before and I’m nervous but I’m also really excited to meet loads of different people from different countries, especially similar age people to me with similar passions. I am really excited to learn how to improve my speaking skills, my leadership skills and how to network with other people.  

I would really like to do International Relations at University; that has been in my mind for quite a while and that’s really why I am doing Geography and Politics A Levels. I love both of these subjects and I have such amazing teachers. 

I saw the opportunity for the conference online and I thought I’d attempt it but I was so shocked when I got an email to say I’d been selected, and that it was fully funded! I wrote about the change I want to see; I want to see more equality and more focus on sustainability, especially with the younger age groups, as this is something that is going to directly affect all of us.  With AI, it takes up a lot of energy and water but there isn’t much change being implemented on something that is definitely going to be part of our future. There is a concern for everyone with rising and falling temperatures and with so many animals becoming extinct as well.” 

Leighton Park’s Ethical Changemaking Scholarship is open to Sixth Form applicants who can prove they have made a significant difference to their local, national or international community by tackling important environmental, social or global issues. Beatrix’s trip to Paris is aligns perfectly with her aim of being a changemaker now and in the future, and we wish her every success with this fantastic opportunity.
