ISA Inclusive Festival of Sport 2026!

On Tuesday 16^th June, Leighton Park hosted the ISA Inclusive Festival of Sport, in partnership with Power2Inspire.

7 local schools took part in the festival, seeing 80+ students across them taking part! This event was lead and helped by 15 Fryer students and 26 sports leaders, coaching and playing in each of the six games amongst all the different teams. The games being played were Walking Football, Walking Touch Rugby, Quick Cricket, and then paralympic sports Boccia, Goal Ball and Sitting Volleyball. All designed to be inclusive and support anyone who wanted to play.

The purpose of this event is to not only provide our students with another chance to coach and take part in new sports, but to provide an excellent opportunity for everyone to be involved in the wellbeing that sport can bring about.

John Willis, Founder and Chief Ambassador of Power2Inspire, had to share: “It’s absolutely brilliant! Not only has the sun come out but we’ve got a great group of people, loads of schools, and the Leighton Park kids have been superb leaders. The whole event is totally inclusive and it’s lovely to see the smiles and happiness of the children who don’t normally get included in these sorts of things. The biggest barrier for disabled people is lack of confidence, and this particular event gives kids masses of confidence. It takes all the children out of their comfort zones, and alongside that the sports leaders get the opportunity to lead in something they might not have before.”

Emily, National Sports Manager at the ISA, who was also in attendance enthused: “Everyone is integrating brilliantly with each other. We put this on for our member schools and love to invite local state schools to be able to get involved in these events. It brings everyone together on a sports field to just have lots of fun, try new sports and meet new people”

There was certainly a lot of enjoyment amongst students, as Kian (Lower Sixth) said: “I’m enjoying today a lot! Everyone is super friendly and I’m enjoying getting to see the range of schools and students that are attending. I think the visiting schools are enjoying the range of games and are just having a fun day away to take part in some sports. It’s always nice to see people enjoying sports and it’s great to be such a big part of that today.”

Larissa (Year 10) shared similar thoughts: “I’m really enjoying today and spending time with new people and helping them play sports when they wouldn’t usually be able to. I’ve done similar coaching like this, like helping coach swimming lessons, but I haven’t done anything with these sports before which is new and interesting. It’s very fun and I’d be excited to do it again next year!”
