We are proud to celebrate the exceptional achievements of our talented composers in the ISA Composing Competition 2026, where our students delivered a remarkable sweep across multiple categories.
A real love for music, and the incredible quality of the musical education on offer at Leighton Park, really shone through at the ISA Composing Competition Awards 2026, with Leighton Park students winning the top spots across two of the three Year 12-13 categories, as well as first and second place in the Year 10-11 Instrument and Voice category. This is a remarkable achievement in such a prestigious national competition.
Congratulations to Taylor (Lower Sixth), who secured first place in the Year 12–13 Solo Instrument category with his expressive Alto Sax Concerto ‘Romance’; Alex (Year 11), who achieved first place in the Year 10–11 Instrument and Voice category with ‘He Doesn’t Know’; and Holly (Upper Sixth), who earned a first place in the Year 12-13 Instrument and Voice catgoryF for her moving piece ‘I’ll Come Home’. Second place awards were achieved by Elissa (Year 9), Clara (Year 9), James (Year 10), and Luca (Year 10) for their collaborative piece ‘Song’ in the Instrument and Voice category; Noa (Lower Sixth) in the Year 12-13 Instrument and Voice category for her heartfelt composition ‘Lifeline’; and Kayla (Lower Sixth) in the same category for ‘Avalanche’. Highly Commended recognition was awarded to Max (Upper Sixth) for ‘Responsibility’ and Gaia (Year 10) for his evocative work ‘The Last Glow of Summer Rain’.
Students are encouraged to harness their creativity and musical passions with the support of a Yahama Live Lounge recording studio, composition and editing suites, as well as light-filled and inspiring classrooms and practice rooms. The Music Department serves as a vibrant creative hub open to students of all abilities, supported by 27 specialist teachers who nurture musical development across a wide range of pathways. Academic qualifications such as GCSE, A Level and IB Music sit alongside innovative programmes like Sound for Soul, which uses the power of music to promote wellbeing, confidence and connection.
