Art Across the Park

Leighton Park is alive with creativity as we launch our annual art show, celebrating the exceptional work of our Year 11 and Sixth Form students.

The exhibition presents a striking array of fine art and textiles, produced across our creative arts courses. With water serving as a central motif in many of the pieces, this year’s show has been naturally titled ‘Flow’, reflecting both the visual theme and the unique flow state that artistic practice inspires.

The artwork will be available for social viewing on 11th June until the 15th, and we are delighted to welcome the students and staff to enjoy and appreciate the remarkable talent on display.

Following the school exhibition, Leighton Park will also take part in the Whiteknights Studio Trail, an inspiring artistic event running over the weekend of 13th and 14th June, from 11.00am to 6.00pm each day. This vibrant trail showcases the work of 33 artists across 23 venues, highlighting outstanding arts and crafts from across Berkshire.

Leighton Park School is proud to be Venue 21 on the trail, exhibiting the work of four artists, including our own English as an Additional Language (EAL) teacher, Tom Cartmill, as well as Ged Gast, who has long-standing family connections within our school community.

Our Art department has nine specialist art studios, including ceramics, textiles, graphic art, print making, photography and several painting studios. Sixth Formers benefit from their own studio space in the Sixth Form Art Centre aiding turning ideas into a reality. We encourage originality and innovation, including with the ways you face the challenges of the creative process. There’s a wide variety of media to explore, and the relaxed department is a peaceful space to spend your time.
