Our annual Drama Summer Curtain Call on Thursday 11th June was a wonderful celebration of the creativity and ambition shown by our talented students.
Performers from the Year 9 Drama classes, individual London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts (LAMDA) candidates, and our Drama Scholars all embraced the chance to take the lead on their own artistic initiatives.
Creativity flourished as these aspiring actors selected their own texts, collaborated in groups, directed one another, and in some cases even wrote and composed their own original scripts.
The Curtain Call showcased an impressive variety of performances, ranging from monologues and duologues to larger ensemble pieces. The programme featured scenes from Macbeth, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Stranger Things, alongside extracts from The Other Other Brontë Sister, Hansel and Gretel, and Proud by Hannah Kennedy. Our Year 8 CAS groups also demonstrated their diverse talents with scripts they had curated as a team.
Head of Drama, Jessica Wittert van Hoogland, expressed her pride in the students’ dedication and artistry: “This is a celebration of performance and teamwork. A brilliant way to see out a fantastic year of theatre for the Drama Department”.
Drama for Leighton Park really is for everyone. Aspiring actors can take formal qualification such as LAMDA or Trinity or take GCSE or A Level Drama as part of your options or join in on our exciting productions from plays to full-scale musicals.
