Will the Course Suit Me?

A Level Mathematics is ideal for students who enjoy solving problems, thinking logically and tackling challenging ideas. It develops analytical skills and resilience, helping students approach unfamiliar situations with confidence.

To be successful students need to:

  • Enjoy Mathematics
  • Have achieved at least a  Grade 7 at GCSE
  • Be willing to persevere with challenging problems
  • Be organised and motivated to work independently

Course Description

The course combines Pure Mathematics with Applied Mathematics through the study of Statistics and Mechanics. Students sit three 2-hour examinations at the end of Year 13.


The use of a Graphical Display Calculator (GDC) is expected in lessons and examinations.
